My beach body- part II

beach body tips - Mayra Louise

Do you remember my bikini post from earlier this year? I shared my path to a beach body. It took me about twenty years to figure this one out: we all have a beach body. It’s nice and empowering to draw a conclusion like that but as long as you’re not in a bikini on a beach you’re not practising what you preach. So I felt like my post needed some real life proof. The half naked on a beach kinda proof.

Last October this finally happened. I went on a holiday to the Dominican Republic. A whole week filled with beaches and bikinis! I finally got to wear my lovely Gabi Fresh bikini in public. I also added a couple of different tops to accompany my black binini bottom. The first thing I did when I arrived at the hotel was take a dive into the ocean. I felt liberated.beach body

‘I was constantly checking if everything was still in the right place’

I was curious about how I would feel at the beach. A couple of years ago I also wore a bikini during a holiday but I was super concious about it. I was constantly checking if everything was still in the right place. And if people were looking at me. And even if they weren’t I still felt like they were. Insecurity is a bitch, you know.beach body

‘My beach holiday was a bit of a full circle moment for me’

This time around it was completely different. I think I annoyed my sweet friend by asking her to take bikini pics every day. She was like ‘please woman, I know your hips don’t lie but can we just chill?’. Nahhh… it wasn’t that bad. I think.
I also remember my friend saying: ‘Sweetie, your nipple is showing’. And I was like: Oh well… I honestly couldn’t care less. A couple of years ago I would have felt so awkward. I would have grabbed my towel and hide away as much of myself as possible.beach body

‘Half naked and dressed up in love’

My beach holiday was a bit of a full circle moment for me. The last couple of years I felt that I was getting more and more comfortable with my body but this holiday proved that this is 100% true. There is so much comfort in ending a cycle of hate towards your body. As I shared in my earlier post I’m still working on the self-love part when it comes to other parts of me than my body. But I’ve taken bigs steps. And I’m proud of that. I can’t wait to be back on the beach again. Half naked and dressed up in love.

What’s up with you beach body loving?
